In her opening speech at the Blue Economy & Finance Forum (BEFF), Christine Lagarde stated :
“We have to choose the healing road not the destruction road”
She also emphasized the crucial importance of private investment and innovation in addressing today’s economic and environmental challenges.
The principles she advocates — innovation, private investment, and sustainability — are fully aligned with those of the blue economy promoted by the BEFF.
Organised by the Prince’s Government, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, with the support of France and Costa Rica, the BEFF is a special event of the United Nations Ocean Conference, in support of Sustainable Development Goal 14.
The discussions held at the BEFF underline the importance of mobilising private finance to drive the transition toward a regenerative and sustainable blue economy.
Christine Lagarde’s conviction that we must build a robust strategy for a new economic era strongly resonates with the Forum’s objectives.
