SUMMARY:AMCA Presents a Lecture: Christian Dior\, the Inspiration of Nature
DESCRIPTION:The Monegasque Association for the Knowledge of the Arts (AMCA) will present its second conference on November 10th at the Théâtre des Variétés\, with the theme: “Christian Dior\, the Inspiration of Nature.” \nThe gardens of Granville were a formative place for Christian Dior\, where a sensitivity to nature took root\, a sensitivity that still permeates the world of the House of Dior today. \nChristian Dior\, the Inspiration of Nature\nBorn in Granville\, the “Monaco of the North” in the Manche region\, Christian Dior flourished as a child on the family estate. Built in the Anglo-Norman style\, it is surrounded by a garden that would forever mark him\, and whose design he helped to create alongside his mother\, Madeleine. This close connection with nature\, plants\, and flowers would influence him once he became a couturier\, creating in 1947 the “flower-woman” silhouette\, inseparable from the New Look. Both a refuge and a source of inspiration\, Christian Dior’s gardens are inseparable from his life and work. The floral and plant repertoire became one of the defining characteristics of the House of Dior. \nMONDAY\, November 10\, 2025 / 6:30 PM\nChristian Dior\, Inspired by Nature\nLed by Brigitte Richart\nCurator of the Christian Dior Museum\, General Curator of the exhibition\nChristian Dior\, Enchanting Gardens \nInformation\namca.reservation@gmail.com\nFull price €12\nStudent €5\nPayment by cash or check – Credit cards not accepted\nTHÉÂTRE DES VARIÉTÉS-MONACO\nTickets available on site from 5 PM \nNovember 10 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

SUMMARY:Opera de Monte-Carlo Showcases "Aida"\, Nov 16
DESCRIPTION:Opera de Monte-Carlo presents Aida by Giuseppe Verdi with the Choir of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday 16 November 2025 at 3 pm in the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. \nSunday 16 November 2025 – 15h\nThursday 20 November 2025 – 20h\nSaturday 22 November 2025 – 20h \nSalle des Princes – Grimaldi Forum Monaco \nTickets starting at 40€ \n\n\n\n\n\n\nMelodramma in four acts\nMusic by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901)\nLibretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni\, based on a scenario by François Auguste Ferdinand Mariette reworked by Camille du Locle\nPremiere: Cairo\, Khedival Opera House\, 24 december 1871 \nProduction of the Rome Opera House \nSet in a pseudo-historic vision of Ancient Egypt\, Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida depicts a dramatic clash between Aida and Amneris\, haughty princesses battling for the valiant warrior Radames’s love. Aida had been commissioned for the inauguration of the Suez Canal\, hence its reputation for cinemascopic dimensions – elephants included. The first Monaco performance in 1884 had to suffer cuts in the mass scenes due to the size of the Salle Garnier. In 2025\, this poses problems no longer since Davide Livermore and his team can work in the expanse of the Grimaldi Forum where they have already proven an amazing creativity in using modern technology for breathtaking scenery. \nAt closer examination\, however\, her numerous arias\, duets and trios reveal Aida’s intimate chamber musical side\, which dominates most of the opera’s acts. Verdi’s writing for the voice and the colourful orchestral part are at their best when depicting what were often called “female weapons”: charm and seduction\, slander\, deception\, and – once defeated – self-destruction and ruining of the cherished object. In such situations\, beautiful and refined singing counts. Enjoy a stellar cast\, which shows you both sides of this magnificent opera: its grandeur\, and its fragility! \nConductor | Massimo Zanetti\nDirector | Davide Livermore\nSets | Giò Forma\nCostumes | Gianluca Falaschi\nLighting design | Antonio Castro\nVideos | D-Wok\nChoirmaster | Stefano Visconti\nThe King | Antonio Di Matteo\nAmneris | Marie-Nicole Lemieux\nAida | Anna Pirozzi\nRadamès | Arsen Soghomonyan\nRamfis | Erwin Schrott\nAmonasro | Artur Rucinski\nVoice of the Priestess | Galia Bakalov\nA messenger | Vincenzo di Nocera \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember 16 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm\n€40
