The High Seas Treaty is halfway through! Norway and Romania have just ratified the #HighSeasTreaty. These new ratifications advance the #RaceForRatification and closer to 60!
Progress Map
196 UN Member Countries
116 Countries have signed the High Seas Treaty marking their commitment to ratifying it.
31 Countries have ratified and there are 29 more needed before the Treaty is officially ratified.

At least 60 countries must sign and ratify the High Seas Treaty for it to become international law.
As soon as that happens, the global community can ramp up international action to protect our shared ocean, mitigate climate breakdown and safeguard the lives and livelihoods of billions of people worldwide.
*The EU has deposited its instrument of ratification and is a party to the Agreement. However, as a regional economic integration organization, only the ratifications of its Member States count toward the 60 required for the Agreement’s entry into force, in accordance with Article 68(3) of the Treaty. This is why the number on High Seas Alliance’s ratification tracker site differs from the number of parties that have ratified on the UN site.
