As the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show wraps up, the industry is buzzing about a record-breaking year. The event set a new standard for size, volume, and modernity, giving organizers a strong foundation for the 2025 show.
The biggest news of the show was the unexpected arrival of the Lürssen superyacht GOLDEN ODYSSEY. Just before the event began, the 123.2-meter (404-foot) vessel took the place of another yacht, instantly becoming the largest and longest yacht ever to appear at the show.
GOLDEN ODYSSEY also claimed the record for the largest yacht by volume, measuring an astounding 7,690 gross tons (GT). This placed it ahead of the 112-meter RENAISSANCE, which came in at 7,200 GT. The two yachts, along with the 122-meter KISMET, helped the 2024 show break another record: for the first time, Monaco hosted three yachts over 100 meters in length.
While the total number of yachts – 116 – didn’t break any records, the event featured a formidable fleet. But perhaps the most surprising record was the average age of the yachts. At just 4.99 years old, the 2024 fleet was the youngest ever, significantly younger than the 2023 fleet, which averaged 8.21 years.
These new records for size, volume, and fleet age highlight a year of significant growth and innovation in the superyacht industry. The Monaco Yacht Show 2024 has certainly set the bar high for years to come.
