#MrBeast and #MarkRober announce the #TeamSeas campaign has announced a massive victory, officially cleaning up over 34,080,191 pounds of trash and plastic from the world’s oceans and rivers. [00:00].
YOU DID IT!!! Every donor. Every volunteer. Every partner. Every Creator. Our partners @TheOceanCleanup & @OceanConservancy. We all did it!
4 million pounds over the original goal of cleaning 30 million pounds of trash from our ocean, rivers and beaches around the world. #TeamSeas is proof that when we all come together to help make things better on this planet, BIG things will happen.
This milestone surpasses their original 30 million-pound goal by over 4 million pounds, with the results independently verified by a third party. [00:15]
This record-breaking effort – the largest creator-led crowdfunding campaign in internet history – was powered by donations from over 200 countries and territories. [00:53] The campaign saw communities, schools, celebrities, and organizations unite, generating over 1.3 billion video views across more than 40,000 social channels. [01:11]
The funds were used in partnership with two major organizations to facilitate the cleanup:
- The Ocean Cleanup: The partnership funded the removal of millions of pounds of trash before it could enter the ocean, utilizing innovative technology like “trash-eating robots.” [01:56]
- Ocean Conservancy: The money helped mobilize hundreds of thousands of volunteers for large-scale beach cleanups globally and supported their Global Network of cleanup partners, including groups that clean up abandoned “ghost gear” from coral reefs. [02:12]
MrBeast emphasizes that #TeamSeas is proof that large-scale community action can lead to significant positive change for the planet. [03:11]
