Princely Family, Charles Leclerc and 800 guests light up Monaco’s 70th Galaxy Rose Ball

Monaco’s 70th Rose Ball turned Sporting Monte-Carlo into a galaxy-themed spectacle on Saturday 21 March, as Christian Louboutin welcomed the Princely Family, Charles Leclerc and around 800 guests for one of the Principality’s most high-profile charity nights.

Monaco’s Princely Family stepped into a cosmic fantasy on Saturday evening as the 70th Rose Ball transformed the Salle des Étoiles into an interstellar world of lasers, illuminated portholes and spaceship-inspired design.

Held under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II and chaired by Princess Caroline of Hanover, the Principality’s iconic charity gala embraced the theme “Galaxy Rose Ball”, with Christian Louboutin returning for his fifth consecutive year as artistic director. Supported by designer Benoît Miniou, Louboutin traded the event’s traditional floral-heavy styling for a monochrome, futuristic universe that immersed guests in a journey through space.

Among those attending were Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene, Princess Caroline, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo, as well as Princess Akiko of Mikasa, who was in Monaco during celebrations marking 20 years of diplomatic relations between Monaco and Japan. Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc was also among the evening’s guests, joined by his new bride Alexandra in a metallic pink gown that matched the theme.

Fashion remained central to the evenings glamour. Princess Charlene wore a shimmering floor-length Elie Saab gown, while Princess Caroline chose a silver Chanel blazer. Beatrice Borromeo arrived in a sculptural black Christian Dior dress, and Princess Alexandra wore a flowing blue Prada gown.

Broadcaster Stéphane Bern hosted the traditional charity raffle in a vintage astronaut suit from Pierre Cardin’s 1968 archives. Guests watched performances Crazy Horse and a synchronised dance performance by Céline & Cain Kitsaïs’ troupe, before singer Leee John closed the evening with Imagination hits including Music and Lights.

Beyond the entertainment, the Rose Ball remained rooted in its original purpose: raising funds for the Princess Grace Foundation, which supports humanitarian causes and children in hospital. Even at 70, Monaco’s most recognisable charity gala proved it still knows how to surprise.
