Water Safety: Princess Charlene leads life-saving efforts

On April 24, the pool at Stade Louis-II became a global classroom as 108 children from 9 countries took part in Operation Water Safety 2025 – led by none other than Princess Charlene of Monaco. The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has been organising these Days to warn children about the risks of drowning, since 2014.

On April 24, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation hosted Operation Water Safety 2025, bringing together 108 children from nine countries for a hands-on day of lifesaving skills and international solidarity.

Held at the Stade Louis-II pool, the event combined fun with vital water safety education, reinforcing the Foundation’s mission to prevent drowning through sport-based learning.

Guided by freediving champion and Foundation Ambassador Pierre Frolla, children participated in six aquatic workshops as well as dry sessions led by the Monegasque Red Cross and other partners. The initiative, timed just before the Sainte Dévote Rugby Tournament, highlighted the importance of early water safety education across cultures.

Young participants from Mauritius, Ecuador, New Zealand, Argentina, the United States, South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, and Georgia joined the initiative, taking part in a variety of engaging workshops.

“For many children, this morning marked their very first introduction to aquatic rescue,” reads the Foundation’s press release.

For me, this initiative is not just symbolic. It reflects a deep and ongoing commitment to saving lives and empowering children through sport and education.
